About This Series

The 24 Hours of Lemons runs a calendar of 8-12 events per year at circuits across the United States, from California to Connecticut. While there is no formal national championship, teams track their performance across events and compete for event-specific trophies, the coveted Index of Effluency (most impressive performance from the worst car), and various other humor-themed awards. The season typically runs from February through November.

Format

Endurance races of 8-24 hours (most events are 14-16 hours over two days). Teams of 3-5 drivers share a $500 car. Penalty system enforced by judges with a sense of humor.

Weekend Format

Saturday: tech inspection (BS inspection of car value), racing begins. Racing continues through Sunday. Awards ceremony Sunday afternoon.
