HPDE Overview

The 991 is the most refined 911 available on the used market. The 991.1 (2012-2016) retains naturally aspirated flat-six engines (3.4L/3.8L), while the 991.2 (2017-2019) switched to twin-turbo 3.0L engines with more power and torque. Both are exceptional track cars. The 991 chassis is wider, stiffer, and better damped than the 997. Electric power steering is well-calibrated with good weight and linearity. The 7-speed manual has a long-throw feel that divides opinion — the PDK is objectively faster. The GTS model (naturally aspirated in 991.1, twin-turbo in 991.2) is the track enthusiast's choice with 430-450 hp and sport-tuned everything.

Why People Love It

The 991 GTS is the finest all-around 911 available. Fast, refined, reliable, and deeply satisfying to drive.

Why People Hate It

The 991.2 turbo engine, while faster, lost the NA character. Prices remain high. PDK is faster but less engaging than the manual.

Best For
