HPDE Overview

The Blackwing sedans are Cadillac's farewell to internal combustion, and they went out with a bang. The CT5-V Blackwing produces 668 hp from the supercharged LT4 V8 and weighs 4,096 lbs — making it a full-sized luxury sedan that can lap most tracks faster than a base Corvette. The CT4-V Blackwing uses a twin-turbo 3.6L V6 making 472 hp in a lighter 3,800 lb package. Both Blackwings use Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 and electronic LSDs. Both are available with a 6-speed manual — the last manual V8 sedans from GM. The brakes are massive (Brembo 6-piston fronts on the CT5-V BW) and the chassis tuning by Cadillac's performance team is exceptional. These are track-capable luxury sedans that actually deliver on the promise.

Why People Love It

The Blackwings are the most capable sedans ever produced. They combine genuine track performance with luxury car comfort, and both are available with a 6-speed manual — the last hurrah of the manual transmission V8/V6 sedan.

Why People Hate It

They are heavy, expensive to run, and the Cadillac brand lacks the track credibility of BMW M or Porsche. Consumable costs are brutal.
