HPDE Overview
The F87 M2 is the spiritual successor to the E46 M3 — a compact, lightweight (by modern standards), rear-wheel-drive BMW with a straight-six turbo engine. The M2 Competition and CS use the S55 engine from the M3/M4, giving them 405-444 hp in a smaller, lighter package. The M2 CS is the ultimate expression: 444 hp, carbon fiber roof, adaptive M dampers, and a limited-slip differential. On track, the M2 feels like a small, agile weapon. The short wheelbase makes it responsive in tight sections, and the M differential manages traction effectively. The brakes (especially on Competition and CS) are well-sized for the car's weight. The DCT is faster on track, but the manual is available for purists.
